Brussels is full of museums; the Ancient Art Museum and the Modern Art Museum are definitely worth viewing. One of Europe’s most beautiful central squares is located near the Grand Palace. You can easily walk around here in awe. After a day of viewing the historical sights you may wish to find Rue des Bouchers. Here you can try fine food and relax with a famous Belgian beer.

Along the River Scheldt is the city of Antwerp. Steeped in history and a busy diamond centre, the town mixes old and new. If you are an art lover you will fall in love with the Royal Museum of Fine Art. Take a stroll down the streets and be spoilt with a mix of medieval castles, neo-Renaissance villas and art nouveau mansions.

Bruges is a medieval city; located here are the Markt and the Burg, two stunning medieval sites. The Groeninge Museum and the Stadhuis Museum are rich with amazing art collections. Tongeren is Belgium’s oldest town, bursting with history. The medieval and Roman walls surrounding the city are not to be missed.

Belgium has a good range of accommodation. The capital has a good choice of top hotels and budget hotels. Outside of the capital you will find well priced accommodation in the form of small or large guesthouses. You can also find small and large hotels in most of the towns.

Zaventem, or Brussels Airport, is Belgium’s busiest airport, receiving flights worldwide and from many cities from the UK. The second airport, Deurne, mainly receives regional flights and some from London, Liverpool and Dublin. Rail links with London mean that you can reach Brussels in just three hours. The trains are comfortable and fast. You can catch a bus to Brussels non-stop from the UK. Belgium can also be reached by ferry from the UK via Zeebrugge port.

So now do you want to travel more? 🙂
