During the first year of doctoral studies, you’ll meet with a supervisor to devise a plan of action. During this time, you’ll also conduct a phd literature review, which evaluates existing works in your field and ensures that your research is original. In the second year, you’ll focus on gathering data and developing your thesis. You may also begin writing chapters of your thesis during this period. In addition, you’ll present your findings at academic conferences and may even gain teaching experience.
