What are scented oil candles?

Scented oil candles are made by mixing fragrant oils with a paraffin wax. These are often mixed with a carrier oil. The oil mixture is then poured into candle molds and allowed to cool. When the candles are finished, they are often treated with a layer of wax to seal in the scent. The wax candles that we are all so familiar with can be dated back to the early 19th century. These candles were very popular in the Colonial period, however, scented oil candles were used in ancient history and even today are still used by many cultures. These scented oil candles give off a certain aroma, and they come in various colors and shapes. Some of them are very decorative, and some of them are little more than receptacles for oil.
