The full National Anthem of Bangladesh

First, let’s we know something about this song.

About National Anthem of Bangladesh:

Amar Shonar Bangla was written and composed by the Bengali poet and Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore in 1905. The first ten lines of this song were adopted in 1972 as the Bangladeshi national anthem. Tagore also wrote the national anthem of India, making him the only person to have written anthems for two states. The song was written at the time of the partition of Bengal and was a plea for Bengali unity against the division of the then-province.

The word ‘shonar’ in the title can be literally translated as meaning ‘made from gold’, but the intention of the use of this word in the title of the song is to imply the colour of the land before harvest.

National Anthem of Bangladesh  (English Translation)

My golden Bengal, I love you.
Forever your skies, your air set my heart in tune as if it were a flute
O mother! the aroma of the mango orchard in the spring time drives me crazy,
Ah, what a thrill!
O mother! in Late Autumn time sees smiles all through mature fields of paddy.

What beauty, what shades, what affection, what tenderness!
What a quilt have you spread at the feet of banyan trees and along the bank of every river
Oh mother mine, words from your lips are like nectar to my ears.
Ah, what a thrill!
If sadness, O mother! casts a gloom on your face, my eyes are filled with tears!
