Are lemons good or bad for the face?

Lemon is a natural acid that has very high vitamin C content. While it is very good for the body, applying it on the skin becomes a different ball game altogether. Just as too much of anything becomes poison for the body, so does too much of lemon juice for the skin becomes harmful. So, you must make sure to apply lemon juice on your skin in measured quantities and follow certain rules to get the best out of it.

A few ground rules are:

  1. Do not apply lemon juice directly on your skin as this might sensitize your skin and make it highly irritable.
  2. Always dilute lemon juice with some carrier oil or plain water before applying it onto your skin.
  3. Avoid going out in the sun with lemon juice applied onto your skin or face as this might cause redness, inflammations and rashes.
  4. Instead of using lemon juice, try using the peel powder instead as it can be mixed with other natural ingredients like multani mitti, rose water, or olive oil giving you best benefits.
  5. Always wash your face with normal water for washing away DIY face packs made with lemon juice or lemon peel powder to keep irritations from developing on the skin.

I have been using Indus Valley Bio-Organic Lemon Peel Powder and Indus Valley Lemon Essential Oil for quite some time now by mixing them up in various DIY face and hair packs. A few benefits that I have received are:

  1. Turned my skin soft, supple and fair
  2. Made my skin neither too oily nor too dry
  3. Increased hair growth
  4. Reduced dandruff and acne
  5. Worked like a skin exfoliator
  6. Reduced wrinkles and tightened up my skin

I recommend that you should also try these two.
